Public Service Loan Forgiveness
The United States Federal Government offers several types of student loan forgiveness including Student Loan Debt Relief, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), Teacher Loan Forgiveness, Borrower Defense of Repayment, and more. Please visit studentaid.gov to learn more.
The Pennsylvania State University is a qualifying employer for the PSLF program. The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center staff recorded a webinar covering updates to the program in Fall 2024. Please see the link below to view this video on our YouTube channel. The Center also hosts live PSLF webinars periodically to provide program information and important updates.
Important: Beginning July 2024, Federal Student Aid fully manages the PSLF program. Log into your Federal Student Aid account to:
- submit your PSLF forms on StudentAid.gov,
- track your progress with these programs on StudentAid.gov, and
- get support for these programs through StudentAid.gov contact centers.
How to have your employment certified by Penn State for PSLF
Both current and past employees should use the PSLF Help Tool to submit the PSLF Form electronically:
- If you have not added Penn State as an employer before, you will need to search by EIN Number. Penn State's EIN Number is 246000376. You can also find this number in Box b of your Penn State W-2 Form.
- For Penn State HR's electronic signature, plug askHR@psu.edu into the Help Tool. This will generate a Docusign version of your PSLF Form to Penn State HR.
- You may still submit paper/PDF copies with a manual signature, but they will take longer for Federal Student Aid to process.
- Read directions on using the PSLF Help Tool and submitting either electronic or manual signatures using the PSLF Help Tool Ninja.
