Public Service Loan Forgiveness
The United States Federal Government offers several types of student loan forgiveness including Student Loan Debt Relief, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), Teacher Loan Forgiveness, Borrower Defense of Repayment, and more. Please visit studentaid.gov to learn more.
The Pennsylvania State University is a qualifying employer for the PSLF program. The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center staff recorded a webinar covering updates to the program in Spring 2024. Please see the link below to view this video on our YouTube channel. The Center also hosts live PSLF webinars periodically to provide program information and important updates.
Important: Beginning May 1, 2024 PSLF processing will pause, and this pause will go through July 2024. During this time, PSLF processing is being transferred from the current PSLF loan servicer, MOHELA, to StudentAid.gov. After this transfer is complete, StudentAid.gov will fully manage the PSLF program.
Moving forward, you’ll be able to
- submit your PSLF forms on StudentAid.gov,
- track your progress with these programs on StudentAid.gov, and
- get support for these programs through StudentAid.gov contact centers.
