Guidelines and expectations

As a Penn State student, you are valued for your ambitions and willingness to seek knowledge and life experience from Penn State Alumni to gain financial security and freedom. The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center has provided a robust curriculum and resources including 28 self-study modules in financial literacy topics.

This mentoring program is designed for educational purposes and for building lasting relationships between alumni and students. This program is not intended to promote, advertise, endorse, buy or sell products or services.

This mentoring program is designed to last for as long as it is mutually agreed upon by both alumni and student.

Discuss goals and expectations with Mentor

Effective communication is essential in any mentoring relationship: Discuss specific goals and expectations with your Mentor to clarify learning objectives.  Review these goals throughout the duration of the mentoring relationship.  This mentoring program is designed to promote online preferred method for communication.

Utilize resources provided by the Penn State Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center: Website has multiple resources including 28 self-study topics in financial literacy, recorded and archived presentations and monthly live webinars.
